Driving Everyday Without Distractions (D.E.W.D!)
Oceana's youth council will work with teachers, administrators, law enforcement , local media outlets and parents to change the attitudes and beliefs about distracted driving by creating an interactive curriculum based on role play, reflection and a car-check toolkit integrated into the health and driver's education classes at Oceana High School. They will partner with the police department and a local insurance broker (who is also a newly appointed city council member) to hold three community wide, teen driver safety events which will be televised by a local public access television station and integrated into their social marketing campaign to ultimately change the behaviors of Pacifica's young drivers.
