West Florida High School
A "Crash" Course in Safe Driving!
This project will have a school-wide assembly with motivational speakers (including a local State Farm agent and police officer) and merchandise (bumper/car stickers, T-shirts, lanyards, ribbons, bracelets, and buttons) given away with catchy driving sayings/pledges explaining the importance and purpose of the items. Pamphlets, safe driving videos broadcasted throughout the school, and having all 5th period classes on a rotation schedule throughout the course of March to attend a demonstration of DUI goggles with discussion afterwards will help reinforce their message. The student government association will travel to elementary schools to teach younger children how they can be good passengers and enable safe driving. They will also obtain a wrecked car from a junk yard and have students and members of the community come to the school and sign the car as a pledge to be a safe driver. A banner that says "I pledge to be a safe driver" will be available for students to sign during all lunches on one day and will be displayed at the school-wide assembly. West Florida High School students want to reach their peers in order to save lives and make a difference in the future.
